I wanna rock! Steve Lieberman the Gangsta Rabbi...

I have found one of the places to find new music is on Myspace. There is a lot of good stuff on there.. I highly recommend giving it a whirl.

One musician that I've found on Myspace (who is actually friendly and answers his messages, like a friend instead of being aloof like most bands on there tend to be) is Steve Lieberman the Gangsta Rabbi. His music is different from the mainstream.. and what makes it so special is HE plays all the instruments.

It's hard for me to put into words exactly what his music reminds me of.. he lists the following bands as his influences:JETHRO TULL,MOTORHEAD CLASH, SEX PISTOLS, MONKS,13TH FLOOR ELEVATORS,FLOGGING MOLLY, GREEN DAY.. but he's really a sound all of his own. His music makes you want to get up and move, much like the techno music they play in clubs. All I can really say, is go take a listen to his music. It's the only way you'll be able to understand what I'm saying.

I was lucky enough to be sent a copy of his album Melancholia Falling. It's a good album.. one song in particular that I keep going back to is "The Beat of My Funeral Drum". I shared this song with a friend of mine who has a varied taste in music like myself and while he wasn't blown away he was impressed. The music is catchy, and Steve's voice draws you in.

In all fairness, I will say that his music isn't for everyone. If you're close minded or dislike loud music.. don't bother to go to his link. If you're open minded, like loud music, and want something that isn't what everyone else is listening to.. I strongly suggest going to his Myspace page. A bonus for listening to his music is if you message him, he'll message you back. He actually CARES about his fans. It's refreshing to see a musician of his talent that takes time to communicate with his fans.

Anyhow.. go check him out, I promise you won't be disappointed.

A kit among the stars shall sit, beyond the aid of feline wit.

I fell in love with this book a long long time ago when I borrowed it from the library. I wasn't able to find it a few years later when I went looking for it... they had done what libraries do and made room for new books. Today mom gave me a copy of it for Easter.. and I've been happily thumbing through it today, I'll start seriously reading it tomorrow when it's not such a busy day.

Today's book suggestion is:
Carbonel the King of the Cats by Barbara Sleigh

The story of Carbonel begins with Rosemary a young gal who winds up buying Carbonel and a broom from an old lady at the market.. if she knew what an adventure she'd get into I wonder if she'd have bought them! She winds up helping Carbonel to his rightful place on the throne with the help of her friend John. It's a rather clever tale that will even capture the mind of an adult. This book won't change your life.. but it will give you some enjoyment, like a vacation for your mind. :)

I'll have a music offering for you tomorrow...

Short introduction

Music and read has always been a source of pleasure for me. When people ask that question.. "which would you rather be blind or deaf" it's hard for me to answer. I can't imagine life without music.. I always have it playing. It's not just background noise to me.. it helps me think, it feeds my creative side, it soothes me, it gets me hyped up.. it's a big part of my life. I can't imagine not being able to see either.. not being able to read and enjoy books would be like taking a piece of my soul and crushing it. I always have a book around me.. by the computer, by my bed, when I go places I take a book.. and yes if you come over and use the bathroom you'll find reading material in there.

I created this blog as a place for me to write about books and music that I have enjoyed. I am always open for suggestions on books to read, music to listen to, etc. so feel free to drop me a line with any suggestions you might have.

That all being said.. I hope you enjoy this blog!
